Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Slack of Brandon are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Megan Rita Slack, to Donovan Jefferson Barnes, son of Ellis Matthew “ Sam” Barnes, Jr. and Dana Hobby Barnes. Donovan is the grandson of Kathy Mullins Barnes and Ellis Matthew Barnes, Sr., James and Barbara Hobby, and Donna Hobby, all of Brandon.
The bride-to-be is a 2015 graduate of Northwest Rankin High School in Brandon and is a 2019 graduate of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she obtained a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is currently pursuing a master of science degree in nursing at Delta State University while working at St. Dominic Hospital of Jackson as a Registered Nurse.
The prospective groom is a 2015 graduate of Northwest Rankin High School in Brandon and is employed as a technician at Nissan North America of Canton. He is currently pursuing a bachelor of science in industrial technology at Mississippi State University.
The high school sweethearts will return to their place of engagement to exchange vows on June 11, 2022, in Las Catalinas, Costa Rica. The couple will reside in Brandon following their honeymoon in Papagayo, Costa Rica.
