Trojans edge out Jaquars 36-35

The Magee Trojans pulled off one of the most dramatic wins of the season Friday night, rallying from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars 36–35. The victory marked another gutsy performance for a Magee team that refused to back down against one of the state’s perennial powerhouses.

The SCA Lady Cougars punched their ticket to the MAIS 4A Division I State Softball Championship with big wins over Bayou Academy and Parklane Academy. The Lady Cougars will have homefield advantage in the championship series against Parklane. The first game was played at home Tuesday with the second to be played on the road Thursday at Parklane.

The Simpson Academy Cougars mounted a stirring second-half comeback Friday but came up just short as Lamar held on for a 21–19 win.
The Cougars’ late surge wasn’t enough to erase a 21–0 halftime deficit, despite shutting out Lamar in the second half behind defensive adjustments and clutch plays on offense.
