Magee Trojans faced the Lanier Bulldogs last Thursday night in Jackson and it came down to an extra-point kick in over time that gave the Trojans their third win for the season.
Both teams would come into the night’s game with a two win three loss record. Magee is set to play
Dyquan Lockhart and Jaden Chapman would take to the field as captians for the evening. Trojans kicked to the Bulldogs Sam Rials first kick would go out of bounds at the 25 prompting another kick. His second kick went out of bounds and the Trojans would be faced with a third kick form their own 30 yard line.
Lanier gained possession at the 25 and moved it to their 39 yard line. Trojans jump off side and the ball is on the 44. Chaz Lofton sackst the quarterback in the backfield. Lanier will keep control of the ball with 8:12 in the first quarter Lanier will score their first touchdown. Lanier will attempt a drive up the middle and Trojans hold the line and the attempt will be no good. Lanier will take a six to nothing lead.
The Trojans will return the Lanier kick off to the 36 yard line. Pittman will hand off for a yard gain up the middle. The next play will have the Trojans throwing and incomplete pass to Dearius Gray. Down three has Pittman being stopped in the backfield forcing the Trojans to punt. The Troajns will be penalized for too many players on the field. Chandler Sullivan skys the ball and the ball and Lanier takes possession on the Magee 39 yard line.
Chandler Pittman would make an interception at the goal line and drive the ball out to the Lanier 17 yard line. The Trojans could not capitalize on the possession and would be forced to punt to punt from the end zone.
Lanier takes possession on the Magee 30 yard line. Lanier would pass on third down and move the ball down to the 15 for a first down. Lanier would then fumble the ball and be backed up to the 20. The Trojans sack the quarterback in the backfield and moves the ball back to the 28. Lanier makes the decision to punt and the ball goes through the endzone.
Trojans take possession as the 20 yard line. Magee drives up the middle for a four yard gain. The series will see the Trojans with fourth down and five to go when they make the desision to punt. Malik Paul will punt to the Lanier 48 this will see the Bulldogs scramble to be brought down at thier own 44.
Lanier will advance to Magee 48 and will drive for a first down next play. Lanier attempts long pass but Bronsha Harris covers the receiver. Lanier then punts the ball to the Magee one yard line.
Lanier gets an off side penalty and the ball is marked on the six. A long pass will be completed to Chandler Sullivan and he scrambles up the field to be tackled on the Lanier 47 yard line only to fumble the ball and have Lanier take over.
Lanier will take possesion and move down field to the eight yard line with 15 seconds left on the clock the Trojan defense makes a stand and the Troajns blocks Lanier’s passing effort. Josh Sanders will make tackle and stop Lanier. Trojans take possession with three seconds on clock. The Trojans will go to the dressing room at the half chasing the Bulldog six-point lead.
Trojans to recieve with the start of the second half. The ball is marked at the 31 yard line. Chapman will make an unsuccessful pass attempt to Tray Haynes. With second down and ten to go the Trojans will run a reverse which will Pittman handing the ball to Chatman running down the left side to the Bulldog 35. Pittman will then complete a pass to Chatman to score a touchdown, making the score six to six. The Trojans attempt a two point conversion which was no good making the score six to six.
The Trojans appear to be in the game and kickoff to the Bulldogs 15 yard line where they fumble the ball and Etoya Traxler recovers the ball.
Trojans take possession and a quick pass will have Malike Paul scoring for the Trojans. Again the two point attempt will be no good and the Trojans take a 12 to 6 lead.
Trojans kickoff to Lanier. Lanier can not captalize and will be force to punt the ball. The end of the third quarter will see Magee leading by a score of 12-6.
The fourth quarter rolls in and with 3:54 on the clock Lanier will tie the score 12 all.
Magee would take possesion and on third down Pittman would be forced out of bounds to be injured on the sideline. He was able to regain composure and walk off the sideline.
Time would eventually run off the clock leaving the score 12 to 12.
The game went into overtime and Lanier would drive up the middle to score on the third play. A two-point attempt would be no good. The Trojans would take possession and two carries by Zach Hall would see the Trojans scoring to tie the game. Sam Rials would come in and kick for the extra point. Rials kick was good and Trojans would chalk up another win for the season.
Trojans will face Velma Jackson, Friday September 28 in Magee.
