The Simpson Cougars opened up District play recently with a three game series against East Rankin Academy. The Junior High Cougars played two games against Brookhaven Academy and Columbia Academy.
East Rankin, Game 1
Simpson 11 East Rankin 1-Getting hits for Simpson were Hooks Harvey - a double, a single, and 2 RBI’s, Bowen Kelly - two singles, Noah Magee - two singles and 3 RBI’s, Caleb Garner - a single, Brady Kemp - a single and a RBI, Andrew Kennedy - a single, John Cole Giordano - 2 RBI’s, Noah Freeman - a RBI, and Thomas Pepper - a RBI.
Pitching for Simpson was Caleb Garner - 5 innings with 9 strikeouts. The win improved Simpson’s record to 5-8 on the season and 1-0 in district play.

In JV action Simpson defeated East Rankin 6-0. In Junior High action the 7th Grade defeated Brookhaven 7-5 and Columbia 7-2. The 8th Grade defeated Brookhaven 10-0 and Columbia 14-3.

Lamar School, Game 1

In JV action Simpson defeated Lamar 9-8. In Junior High action the 7th Grade defeated Lamar 5-0 and the 8th Grade defeated Lamar 5-1.
The Cougars will host Enterprise Clarke High School on Friday, April 6, with the JV at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity. The Cougars will host Magee High School on Saturday, April 7, with the JV starting at 11 a.m. followed by the varsity. The Cougars will travel to Copiah Academy in Gallman on Tuesday, April 10, with the JV starting at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity. The Junior High will host Copiah on Monday, April 9, with the 7th Grade starting at 5 p.m. followed by the 8th Grade.
