The Simpson Cougars opened the 2018 baseball season this week with two games against Presbyterian Christian School.
Presbyterian Christian School - PCS 7 Simpson 6-Getting hits for Simpson were Caleb Garner with a double, a single, and 2 RBI’s, John Cole Giordano two singles, Noah Magee a homerun, a double, and 2 RBI’s, Preston Franklin a single, Noah Freeman a single and a RBI, Andrew Kennedy a single, and Lawton Kennedy a single and a RBI.
Pitching for Simpson were Noah Magee 3 innings with 5 strikeouts, Caleb Garner 1.2 innings with a strikeout, and John Cole Giordano 1.1 innings with 2 strikeouts. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 0-1 on the season.

Pitching for Simpson were Lawton Kennedy 5 innings with 5 strikeouts, Caleb Garner 3 innings with 8 strikeouts, John Cole Giordano 2 innings with 3 strikeouts, and Warner Watkins. The win improved Simpson’s record to 1-1 on the season. The JV Cougars defeated PCS 4-3.
Simpson will travel to Columbia Academy on Thursday, February 22, with the JV starting at 4 p.m. and the Varsity at 6 p.m. Simpson will play in the Simpson County Classic at Mendenhall High School on Saturday, February 24, playing Magee High School at 1 p.m. and Mendenhall High School at 3 p.m. Simpson will host Central Hinds Academy on Monday, February 26, with the JV starting at 5 p.m. and the Varsity at 7 p.m.
