The Lady Cougars finished runner-up in the District 3 AAAA Tournament last week defeating East Rankin Academy 46-35 in the semifinals and losing to Lamar School 52-42 in the championship game. The Cougars captured the District 3 AAAA championship by defeating Hartfield Academy 52-46 in the semifinals and defeating Copiah Academy 61-55 in the championship game.

Simpson 46 East Rankin 35-Scoring for Simpson were Alissa Brewer with 15 points, TK Catchings 12, Morgan Griffith 11, Anna Claire Walker 6, and Alexis Sullivan 2. The win improved Simpson’s record to 26-6 on the season.
Lamar School
Lamar 52 Simpson 42-Scoring for Simpson were Morgan Griffith with 18 points, TK Catchings 17, Anna Claire Walker 4, Alissa Brewer 2, and Gracie Bowen 1. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 26-7 on the season.

Simpson 52 Hartfield 46-Scoring for Simpson were Joseph Berry with 15 points, Bowen Kelly 15, Hunter Cline 12, Thomas Pepper 6, and Josh Flynt 4. The win improved Simpson’s record to 21-8 on the season.
Copiah Academy
Simpson 61 Copiah 55-Scoring for Simpson were Bowen Kelly with 22 points, Hunter Cline 15, Joseph Berry 12, Josh Flynt 4, Layton Brown 3, Todd Larkin 2, Daniel Pepper 2 and Warner Watkins 1. The win improved Simpson’s record to 22-8 on the season.
Simpson will play in the State AAAA DII Tournament at Simpson on Friday, February 22, and Saturday, February 23, if they win on Tuesday and Wednesday. The girls semifinals will be on Friday, February 22, at 1 p.m. vs. the Pillow/Copiah winner. The girls consolation will be Saturday, February 23, at 1 p.m. and the girls championship game will be at 2:15 p.m. The boys semifinals will be on Friday, February 22, at 7:15 p.m vs. the Pillow/Lamar winner. The boys consolation will be on Saturday, February 23, at 6 p.m. and the boys championship will be at 7:15 p.m.
