The Simpson Cougars won the Overall State Championship Saturday afternoon defeating Jackson Prep 45-32. The Cougars defeated Oak Hill Academy in the opening round 49-44, Christian Collegiate Academy 59-28 in the quarterfinals, and MRA in the semifinals 73-53 to advance to the championship game. The Simpson Lady Cougars defeated MRA in the opening round 50-39 and North Delta Academy 69-55 in the quarterfinals but were defeated by Pillow Academy in the semifinals 48-45 in overtime.

Pillow 48 Simpson 45-Scoring for Simpson were TK Catchings with 19 points, Alissa Brewer 11, Ma’Nia Womack 7, Sabra Hubbard 4, and Anna Claire Walker 4. The loss ended Simpson’s season at 35 wins and 7 losses.
