The Falcon Rookies (7-8yrs) would get things started first. The Tornados won the coin toss and defered to the second half. The Falcon offense struggled a bit early; a fumble on their first series would pin the Falcon defense deep in the red zone. However Coach McGill had his defense dialed in and they kept Purvis from scoring. On the Falcons’ second series the offense would once again turn the ball over with a fumble. The defense once again kept the Tornados out of the end zone. Falcon offense would start to get in sync on its third series as Lane Purser broke a couple of tackles and carried the ball for a 65 yard touchdown, PAT was good. From here on out it was all Falcons. Ja'Marius “BayBay” Jenkins would score on a 70 yard TD, Purser would strip the ball for another touchdown, and ZyKyren McCullum had two TD's on the day. Defensive standouts were Lane Purser, Bryson Caffie, John Brody Steward,Wade Leach, and De'Vera Powell. Ja'Waun Walker did a great job at the quarterback position. The Rookies improve their record to 4 and 1.
The Falcon Tinamites (5-6yrs) won the coin toss and elected to go on the offensive first. A fumble recovery by the Tornados on the first series would put them deep in Falcon territory, and they capitalized. The PAT was good after a 14 yard TD run and Purvis was up 8-0 early. They would once again get a turnover late in the 2nd quarter and score. The PAT was no good, so at the half Purvis led 14-0. Purvis would drive the length of the field on their first series of the second half increasing its lead 22-0. The young Falcons would not give up. On their first series Atilla Powell had a 55 yard carry to set up their first score. Kiylen Smith would score on a 16 yard carry and Powell added the PAT. Tornados led 22-8. Late in the fourth quarter, Purvis would once again score on a 45 yard TD run. PAT was good. Tornados 30 and Falcons 8. The never-say-die Falcons would score once more as time expired on a 60 yard TD run by JaMorris Byrd, the PAT was no good. Final score 30-14.
The Falcon Peewees (11-12yrs) Purvis wins the coin toss and defers to the second half. Falcons start the game off with a bang. On the first series the Falcons would score on a 80 yard run by Braeden Gregory, the PAT was no good. Cameron Smith would take over at the QB position for a bit as Gregory was injured on the TD run. Henry Funchess would strip the ball on the Tornado series. Shortly after the Tornados would get an interception. Kane Butler would return the favor after the third play of the Purvis series. Falcons would drive and score on a 3 yard Gregory run, PAT again no good. Score Falcons 12 Tornados 0. Smith would intercept a Tornado pass late in the 2nd quarter and score. The PAT was no good, so at the half the Falcons would lead 18-0. Falcon defense continued to dominate in this match up. The offense would score two more times, once each by Gregory and Cody Mosely. Defensive standouts were Cameron Smith, Cortavious Hobbs, Henry Funchess, Kane Butler, and Nathan Brewer. The final score 32-0 Falcons. The Peewees remain undefeated.
The Falcon Midgets (9-10yrs) Purvis wins the coin toss and start the game on offense. Falcons force a punt in the first series. After a 35 yard pass From Ty Davis to Creel Workman, the Falcons would score on a 9 yard TD by Robert Anthony, PAT was no good. Falcons lead 6-0. Tamaris Traxler would score in the second quarter, PAT was no good. At half-time the Falcons would lead 12-0. The second half was a chess match, both teams countering the other just when it was needed. Anthony would have an interception stopping the Tornados’ strongest chance of scoring. The Falcons would get one more score in the game by Zimir Posery, once again the PAT was no good. The final score was 18-0. This team is firing on all cylinders. Offensive standouts Traxler, Davis ,and Anthony. Defensive standouts include Anthony, Workman, Ben Martin, Brady Fairchild, and Connor Pittman. Like the older Peewees, the midgets remain undefeated.
Next week the Falcons face the Hornets of Poplarville again.
