The Simpson Lady Cougar softball team played three games last week against Hartfield Academy, Copiah Academy, and Newton Academy.
Hartfield Academy Game
Hartfield 8 Simpson 6-Getting hits for Simpson were Leah Beth Luckey with a homerun, a double, a single and a RBI; Maddie Moody a double, two singles, and a RBI; Ma’Nia Womack, a triple and a double; Allison Richardson a single; Gracie Giordano an RBI; and Morgan Griffith an RBI.
Pitching for Simpson was Bella Luckey, 7 innings with 4 strikeouts. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 8-3 on the season and 1-1 in district play.
Copiah Academy Game
Copiah 3 Simpson 2-Getting hits for Simpson were Allison Richardson with a homerun, a double, and an RBI; Morgan Griffith a single; Leah Beth Luckey a double; Maddie Moody a single; Anna Rogers a single; Bella Luckey an RBI.
Pitching for Simpson was Bella Luckey, 6 innings with 2 strikeouts. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 8-4 on the season and 1-2 in district play.
Newton Academy Game
Simpson 7 Newton 1-Getting hits for Simpson were Maddie Moody with a double, two singles, and 2 RBI’s; Morgan Griffith two singles and 2 RBI’s; Gracie Giordano a double and a single; Abigail Carter a homerun and an RBI; Leah Beth Luckey a double; and Ma’Nia Womack a single.
Pitching for Simpson were Bella Luckey, 5 innings with 6 strikeouts, and Morgan Griffith, 2 innings. The win improved Simpson’s record to 9-4.
The Lady Cougars will host Copiah Academy on Monday, September 3, JV at 5 p.m. and the Varsity to follow.
