The Simpson Cougars played three games last week in the Stringer Tournament against West Jones High School, Northeast Lauderdale High School, and Newton County High School.
West Jones HS
West Jones 3 Simpson 2-Getting hits for Simpson were Caleb Garner a double and two singles,Noah Freeman two singles, Andrew Kennedy a double and a RBI, and Luke West a single and a RBI.
Pitching for Simpson was Caleb Garner 7 innings with 8 strikeouts. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 3-7 on the season.
Northeast Lauderdale HS
Simpson 8 NE Lauderdale 4 -Getting hits for Simpson were Caleb Garner with a double, two singles, and a RBI, Brady Kemp two singles and 2 RBI’s, Andrew Kennedy two singles and a RBI, Noah Magee a double and a single, John Cole Giordano a triple, Hooks Harvey a single, Bowen Kelly a homerun and 3 RBI’s, and Thomas Pepper a double.
Pitching for Simpson were John Cole Giordano 6 innings with 10 strikeouts and Warner Watkins 1 innining with a strikeout. The win improved Simpson’s record to 4-7 on the season.
Newton County HS
Newton County 5 Simpson 2-Getting hits for Simpson were Caleb Garner a double and Brady Kemp a single and 2 RBI’s.
Pitching for Simpson were Hooks Harvey 4 innings with 3 strikeouts, Lawton Kennedy 2 innings with 3 strikeouts and Noah Magee 1 inning with a strikeout. The loss dropped Simpson’s record to 4-8 on the season.
Simpson will travel to East Rankin Academy in Pelahatchie on Thursday, March 22, playing a varsity doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. The Cougars will host Lamar School on Tuesday, March 27, with JV starting at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity. The Junior High Cougars will travel to Columbia on Thursday, March 22, with 7th Grade at 5 p.m. followed by the 8th Grade. The Junior High Cougars will travel to Lamar School in Meridian on Monday, March 26, with 7th Grade at 5 p.m. followed by the 8th Grade.
