Tinamites (6 and under)
The youngest Falcons group was eager to bounce back after last week’s close loss. Scott Central would win the coin toss and defer to the second half. The Falcons would take position of the ball on their own 20. On the second play of the drive, tailback Kayden Lofton would break free and score on a 40 yard touchdown run. The PAT was good and the Falcons lead 8-0 with 3:48 left in the first quarter. Scott Central’s first position was spoiled by a fumble which was recovered by A.J. Williams. After driving down the field on a series of runs by Loton and Maurice Camper, quarterback A.J. James would score from 15 yards. The PAT was stopped and the Falcons would lead at the half 14-0.
Scott Central would start the 2nd half first, but turned the ball over on downs. Simpson County scored on a 35 yard run by James. The PAT was made by Lofton, increasing the Falcon lead to 22-0 ending the 3rd quarter. Late in the 4th, Scott Central found a way to free up their running back and scored from 55 yards. The PAT was good, Falcons 22 and Scott Central 8. With 54 seconds left on the clock, James would follow lead blocker A.J Williams into the end zone from 30 yards out sealing the Falcons’ 2nd win of the season. Final score Falcons 30 Scott Central 8.
Rookies (7&8)
Once again in conference play this week against the Tigers of Crystal Springs. Falcons won the coin toss and took possession first. The Falcons scored late in the first quarter on a 14 yard run by Ty Davis. The PAT was no good, Falcons 6 and Tigers 0. Falcons struck quickly on a 34 yard run by Davis. QB Creel Workman threw a strike to Jeremy Robinson for the PAT. Falcons led 14-0 with 7:14 left in the 2nd quarter. The Falcon defense forced a turnover on downs and the offense would score on an 18 yard run by Ben Martin. The PAT is good Falcons 22 and the Tigers 0. Tigers turned the ball over on downs with 52 seconds left in the 1st half. Falcons took advantage of great field position and scored quickly on a 15 yard run by Lane Purser. The PAT was good. The 1st half ends with the Falcons leading 30-0. The Falcon defense would complete the shut out with strong defensive play from a number of players, Bryson Caffie, Braylen Reed, BaileyJo Harvey, Cash Lewis, just to name a few. The Falcons would score once more on a 70 yard run by Davis. The PAT was no good. Final Score 36-0.
Midgets (9&10)
The Falcon midgets kept pace with the Rookies and remain undefeated. The Falcons scored late in the 2nd quarter on a 20 yard run by Henry “Crazy Legs” Funches Jr. The PAT was good, Falcons led 8-0 over the Tigers. On the first of two critical interceptions by Cameron Smith, the Falcons go into halftime 8-0. The Falcons would score once again late in the 3rd quarter on a run by QB Braylon Womack. The PAT was no good. Falcons’ lead would hold 14-0 over the Crystal Springs. The entire defense was just outstanding, holding the Tigers to just 3 first downs and just over a 100 yards of total offense. Another key interception came late in the 4th quarter by Smith, and several key tackles by Jeremy Butts stymied the Tigers’ efforts throughout the game.
Peewees (11&12)
The Falcon peewees needing the win to stay in the playoff race, stepped up big against a very tough Crystal Springs team. Both defenses were very stingy in the game. The Falcons would score the only touchdown with just 42 seconds in the 1st half on an 18 yard pass and catch from QB Akavion Griffith to Montavis Hobbs. Strong defensive play from Arron Martin, Prinston Miller, Keith Powell, Bubba Drennen and Porter shutdown the Tigers’ offensive attack. They only managed 79 yards of total offense and just 2 first downs. Outstanding Job!
Next week all teams travel to Newton County in non-conference play to head into the second half of the regular season. GO FALCONS!!!
