Several Simpson County residents were invited to join a round-table discussion led by Attorney General Lynn Fitch in Mendenhall on February 10. Represented were business owners, law enforcement, court officials, the Republican Women of Simpson County, and the Center for Pregnancy Choices. Attorney General Fitch discussed some of her office’s accomplishments such as the Fentanyl Strike Force, the campus campaign “One Pill Can Kill,” an electronic-sniffing lab named T.R.A.C.E to aid in cyber law enforcement, being the first to file - and win - a lawsuit against males in female sports, and more. She then welcomed questions, concerns, and ideas. Some of the topics discussed were the need for a regional juvenile detention center, consumer protection from cyber crimes and for private-owned pharmacies from monies not being paid in a timely manner, by-passing the waiting period for Safe Haven babies to be adopted, the homeless situation, and Bill 1578.
