The 2023 Simpson County Toys for Tots Campaign was a success with 674 children receiving gifts and over 400 families being served. Several people worked hard to make distribution day a success, such as, from left, Arthur Walker, Veronica Forrester, Latasha Millis, Gia Sherman, Kenneth Red Lewis, Terri Lynn Rankin, Vickie Everett, Marilyn Williams, and Susan McDonald.

The 2023 Simpson County Toys for Tots Campaign ended with Distribution Day last Thursday.
Latasha Millis coordinated the distribution with help from many citizens in the area. Millis said, “We want to thank our area coordinator, Deonka Maizie, for all of her hard work and dedication towards our Toys for Tots Campaign.”

Tebo questions paying for non-working street lights

The Magee Board of Aldermen held their regularly scheduled meeting on December 5.
During comments Mayor Dale Berry requested the Christmas holiday for city employees to include the Friday before Christmas. The board tabled the decision until their mid-month meeting.

Braxton Fire Department wins Best overall in Battle of the Christmas Trees

The Town of Braxton hosted their first Battle of the Christmas Trees. Groups were given spots in the park to set up and decorate Christmas trees for the holiday season. This year there were four entries and Lewis plumbing won Most Creative and the Braxton Fire Department won Best Overall.

The Simpson County Board of Supervisors recognized the public service of James Roy “Red” Grantham Jr. of Harrisville. Grantham started his career with the county in September of 1992.
