A week following the discovery of a Grenada High School student’s body in a “brushy overgrown area” in the heart of the city, investigators have made a break in the case.
The body of 16-year-old Ayden Reno was discovered adjacent to a residence next to Honeytown Park in the 700 block of Leigh Avenue at approximately 11:41 p.m. last Monday, Sept. 22. Earlier today, Monday, Sept. 29, following a week of thorough investigations by the Grenada Police Department, three teenagers were arrested in connection with Reno’s death.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Reno’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Chief Douglas said.
All three suspects are under the age of 18, so their names will not be released at this time.
Last week, Chief Douglas added that a call of shots fired was reported in the area earlier that evening. However, the cause of Reno’s death is being investigated and has not been determined if he died as the result of a gunshot wound.

Deputies with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office and medical personnel with MedStat Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene.
Grenada County Coroner Douglas “Little Bobby” Yates pronounced Reno deceased at 12:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the scene. His body was transported to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsy. Results are pending.
Funeral services for Reno will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Grenada High School Auditorium. The wake will be held from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, at Skeeter Robinson Funeral Home. The repast will follow at Greater Pine Hill Church in Grenada.
The circumstances surrounding the case remain under investigation.
“The Grenada Police Department solicits the support of the community by providing any information in connection with the case,” Chief Douglas concluded.
