The Summer Library Reading Program is about to get into full swing, running the entire month of June. This year’s theme is Adventure Begins at Your Library!
Harrisville, Magee and Mendenhall public libraries will host long time favorites like the Central Mississippi Regional Library System (CMRLS) Puppets, Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center and Magician Dorian LaChance. There will be something for everyone during the month of June to please everyone in the family!
Harrisville events will be held on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. On June 4 the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is returning with a variety of creatures. The CMRLS Puppets will arrive June 11 bringing fun and laughter. Another returning presenter is Tammy Layton with the Mississippi Extension Service, who will talk about the importance of healthy eating leading to a happy life. She will be at the library June 18. Magician Dorian LaChance will wow kids and adults alike on June 25. As a bonus Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center will round out the Harrisville Library summer program.
Magee Library kicks off their summer reading program to be held Thursdays at varying times. First up June 6, 2 p.m. is the A-maz-ing Adventure with Big Daddy Party Jumps. June 13 at 3 p.m. will see new presenter Choctaw Storyteller William Dan Isaac here to entertain and enlighten the crowd. On June 20 at 10 a.m. the annual Fire Truck Adventure returns – be sure to bring towels and prepare to get wet! Last up, on June 27 at 3 p.m. the Museum of Natural Science will present a program.
Mendenhall will also host its series primarily on Tuesdays beginning June 4 at 10:30 a.m. with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. On June 11, at 10:30 a.m., James Starnes from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality will be on hand to discuss all things fossil! A patron favorite, Freedom Ranch Wildlife Center will be front and center on June 18 beginning at 10:30 a.m. Mendenhall’s fourth program will be held on Monday, June 24, at 10 a.m. when Kimberly Sloan from Operation Lifesaver will teach on railroad safety. (Please note program changes.) The month rounds out on June 25 at 10:30 a.m. with another favorite, magician Dorian LaChance.
