Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that occurred late Wednesday morning at the Bumpers restaurant on Highway 49 in Mendenhall.
According to restaurant manager Paul Butler, the suspect entered the establishment at approximately 11:30 a.m. after crossing the parking lot from a nearby gas station. Once inside, the suspect confronted Butler in the manager’s office, brandishing a handgun and demanding money.
Butler reported that the assailant struck him multiple times during the encounter before fleeing the scene on foot with approximately $80 in cash. No other employees or customers were harmed during the incident.
Butler was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and has since been released.
The Mendenhall Police Department responded quickly to the scene and is being assisted in the investigation by the Simpson County Sheriff's Office. Authorities have not yet released a suspect description.
