Magee Chief of Police Shane Little tendered his resignation letter Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Magee Board of Aldermen meeting, effective July 15. Little has been chief of the Magee PD since June 2022. Little has recommended two under his command for the board to choose as interim police chief until a permanent replacement can be found.
Little announced his resignation via the Magee Police Department Facebook page with the following statement:
"Let me begin by thanking the City of Magee for allowing me to serve as your Chief of Police. I firmly believe that the City of Magee, its Board of Alderman, and the Magee Police Department have grown together to make a stronger and safer city. Knowing this has made the difficult decision of moving on a little easier.
I have been blessed with an offer that will better the lives of me and my family. After much prayer and consideration, I have accepted this offer. While I am formally resigning as the Chief of Police for this city, I still have high hopes and great expectations for the future of the Magee Police Department and the City of Magee.
I would like to thank the people of the City of Magee, the Board, and most importantly the men and women of the Magee Police Department. I am eternally grateful for the time I have served as your chief. It has been an honor and a privilege."
Sincerely, Chief Shane Little
