Five Trojans signed football scholarships to further their playing career and education on National Signing Day. Congratulations to Kendal Middleton, DeLarrius Hayes, Antonio Floyd, Ken Porter, and Christian Hubbard.
Kendal Middleton will be joining the Co-Lin Wolfpack as a quarterback. Middleton said, “I want to thank God, my family, my coaches, my teammates and everybody for always encouraging me and keeping my head held high even when times were low. My coaches are looking for me to come in and do the small things right and the big things will happen.”
Ken Porter signed a scholarship and will play running back for the Co-Lin Wolfpack next season. Porter said, “This is a great opportunity, and I was so excited to get the news. I’m thankful for the opportunity to go play football at the next level. The atmosphere feels like family already.” Porter is approaching the opportunity with his end goals in mind.
Porter said, “I am setting goals for myself, and I want to be ranked as one of the top rushers. My coaches are expecting a lot from me and I’ll be ready.”
DeLarrius Hayes signed with Jones County Junior College as a linebacker. Hayes said, “I have to go there and be competitive. I’m planning to work hard, and they’ll get me right.”
Antonio Floyd will be joining Mississippi Delta Community College as a wide receiver. Floyd said, “Getting this opportunity was great it gives me something to work for and something to look forward to. I was very excited to have another opportunity to play football and I’m going to use it to the best of my ability. I expect to go out there and continue to make plays.”
Christian Hubbard will be joining Hinds Community College as a wide receiver. Hubbard said, “This opportunity means a lot. It gives me a lot of motivation because I know my mama wants me to take the next step and do this. I’ll be the first person to do this in my family so going up there with an opportunity to play feels great.”
When asked of his expectation joining the program Hubbard said, “I just plan to grind, and be ready to go fast. I’m going to lift, gain muscle, and put in the field work so I’ll be prepared and ready to go.”
Congratulations to these student athletes.
Head Coach Chase Courtney said, "We had 5 players sign in my first full season. I am thankful for that and the standard that this senior class set. I do think we have some kids that are talented enough to play at the next level who are unsigned. This senior class was larger than any other class. We will miss their size, character, tenacity, and leadership."
