The Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mendenhall Fire Department will be at Vowell’s Market Place onSaturday, December 12, to Stuff the Truck from 8 a.m. - 12 noon.
The object of Stuff the Truck is for citizens to donate enough food items to fill a firetruck. This initiative began last December as a way for the community to help the less fortunate.
Chamber President Josh Pierce said, “This partnership was established by the Mendenhall Area Chamber of Commerce, Mendenhall Fire Department, and Vowell’s. The event is a lot of fun and we hope to build on it each year.”
He explained that last year the truck was almost overflowing with food items to help families and that all monetary donations were used to purchase food. Pierce said, “We’re hoping for an even bigger turnout. Last year we filled the truck with food, and we’re looking forward to doing that again.”
Citizens are invited to help Stuff the Truck with nonperishable food items to help fight hunger this holiday season. All donations will go to the Simpson County Baptist Association to help families in need.
