Quoting Goldilocks Saturday evening — “This one is just right!” was perfect for the annual Magee Mardi Gras Parade. The event drew a good crowd who enjoyed much milder temperatures than the inaugural event in 2025.
Purple, gold and green could be seen certainly in the beads thrown but also in costumes, head gear and decked out floats. The Magee Police Department K-9 units led and ended the procession down Main Avenue beginning at 6 p.m.
The lead float was provided by E&R Diesel, the parade’s signature sponsor for the second year in a row. It was followed up with more floats, side by sides, members of the Magee High School Trojan Band and Cheerleaders, and so much more. Other sponsors included Vestra, Entergy, Magnolia Smiles, PriorityOne Bank, Newks, The Vault and Southern Beverage.
Shouts of “throw me something, mister!” could be heard from kids of all ages waiting for bids, trinkets, cups and treats as the parade rolled on through. A shoebox float contest held many entries from Boswell Regional Center residents along with students from local area schools.
Once the parade was complete a live band, Candace Bush and Friends took the stage set up on Choctaw Street near the back entrance of the Vault. Food trucks were also available for eats and sweets.
