D’Lo Waterpark will host a community tree planting event on Saturday, Feb. 7, as part of an effort to restore the natural habitat along the Strong River and give back to the environment.
The event is a collabortion between Simpson County Soil and Water Conservation, D’Lo Waterpark, and the Simpson County Board of Supervisors. Organizers say the focus of the initiative is to rebuild and renew areas of the park that have lost trees due to flooding and historic environmental damage over the years.
By planting new trees along the river, the project aims to stabilize the riverbanks, improve wildlife habitat, and preserve the natural beauty of the park for future generations. Officials involved with the event emphasized the importance of community involvement and working together to protect and restore local natural resources.
Everyone in the community is encouraged to participate, regardless of age or experience. Volunteers will meet at the D’Lo Waterpark office at 8 a.m. on Feb. 7 before heading out to planting areas along the river.
Participants are asked to bring gloves and a shovel to assist with planting. Organizers recommend dressing appropriately for outdoor work.
