A late-night manhunt through two Simpson County cities ended with the arrest of 39-year-old Tony Keyes, who is now facing a list of felony charges stemming from violent incidents reported on November 23 and 24.
According to the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began searching for Keyes after he was accused of assaulting and robbing an elderly woman in the Mendenhall community. The initial call led investigators to Green Avenue in Mendenhall, where deputies continued gathering information and tracking Keyes’ movements.
Their investigation determined that Keyes had traveled to Magee. Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on November 24, deputies located him inside a room at the Western Motel on Highway 49. When officers attempted to make contact, Keyes tried to barricade the door and initially resisted law enforcement. Deputies were ultimately able to take him into custody without further incident.
Also arrested at the scene was 26-year-old Arrianna Expose, who authorities say was harboring a fugitive.
Sheriff’s officials added that Keyes had been identified as a suspect in a separate incident reported on November 22, in which gasoline was poured on a female victim.
Following his arrest, Keyes was formally charged with home invasion, armed robbery, kidnapping, and rape. Expose was charged with harboring a fugitive. Both suspects remain in custody awaiting their initial court appearances.
