Magee High School recently introduced new head baseball coach, Jeb Lee.
Lee joined Magee High School from Water Valley, where he was the head coach the past six years. His previous team had a 42-15 record over the past two seasons. Lee coached in the 2021 3A/4A All Star game and has twice been named Coach of the Year.
Current Trojan players and parents were invited to attend a welcome press conference last Wednesday.
Principal Bill Broadhead introduced Coach Lee and said “he checked all boxes” for the selection committee comprised of Assistant Principal Dr. Maron Lacey, Lead Teacher Audarshia Flagg, and Coach Gregory Maddox.
Lee is a native of Simpson County and a graduate of Simpson Academy. Lee thanked God for the opportunity and said he prayed a long time for a door to open that would bring him back home. He has coached for over 16 years and thanked his wife Alice Anne for all of her support.
He stated that his first message to his new players would be family. Lee said family is one of the oldest clichés in sports but that is the atmosphere he wants around the team.
Lee said, “Family is earned and proven over time.”
He admitted that it was hard leaving his previous family in Water Valley, but he is looking forward to building a new family at Magee High School.
Lee said, “I’m excited to be here and ready to jump in and get to work. It’s not my program it’s the community’s program and the players program.”
Lee encouraged the community to come out and support the team, and wants Magee Trojan Baseball games to be a community event where everyone shows up. He expressed excitement about meeting former players and encouraged them to come and be around the team.
Lee said, “It’s not a thing of playing for four years and walking away. You are a part of this program for as long as you want to be. I’m looking forward to having former Trojans around.”
Lee is eager to get to work and build on the success and legacy of Magee Trojan Baseball, and build the program as a family.
