The Magee Trojans finished the season on the highest of notes after defeating the Crystal Springs Tigers 56-10. Tristan Newsome played extremely well completing 7 of 12 passes for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Dq Levy led all receivers with two receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown. Demichael Green and Kyerston Tucker each had once receiving touchdown.
Eighth grader Braeden Gregory continues to excel leading the Trojans backfield in carries for the second consecutive week. Gregory finished the game with 9 carries for 95 yards and one rushing touchdown. Gregory had an efficient day running the football and produced several explosive runs. Jawon Shaw followed with 7 carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
It was a relatively easy day for the Trojans offensively and they were able to do whatever they wanted with little resistance from the Tigers. This made back-to-back weeks of the Trojans offense scoring over 50 points which is a good sign as they prepare for the playoffs.
The defense continues to play aggressive and forced five turnovers in the game. Cameron Floyd, Jameyian Spencer and Jody Durr led the charge for the Trojans defensively. Floyd led with 14 tackles followed by Spencer with 11, and Durr with 9. It was another dominant performance by the Trojans defense and a great overall win for the team.
The Trojans drew a familiar opponent in the Jefferson County Tigers and will host their first-round matchup in the playoffs. Jefferson County has a 3-6 overall record and should be a comfortable first round matchup for the Trojans this Friday.
