The Magee Trojans took control Friday night against the Franklin County Bulldogs, pulling away in the second half to claim a convincing 46-20 victory at home. With a punishing ground attack, timely passing, and resilient defense, the Trojans extended their winning streak to three straight games.
Franklin County got the ball rolling early, opening with a passing-driven march down the field that culminated in a touchdown strike. With the PAT good, the Bulldogs led 7-0. But Magee wasted little time responding. On their next possession, the Trojans methodically drove the field, capping it with a 9-yard rushing touchdown by T.Y. Walker. Brady Fairchild added the PAT, knotting the score at 7-7.
For much of the remainder of the first quarter, both defenses stiffened, and the period closed deadlocked. Early in the second quarter, Franklin County converted on a desperate 4th-down heave, hauling in a 26-yard touchdown pass. Their PAT attempt failed, giving the Bulldogs a 13-7 edge heading into the later stages of the half.
Magee’s offense sputtered for a stretch and was forced to punt on their next series, but the momentum was beginning to shift. Travon Magee led the Trojans on a late-scoring drive to close the first half that ended with a 13-yard pass to Braeden Gregory for a touchdown to give the Trojans a 14-13 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Magee turned the tide emphatically, thanks to a strong start to the third quarter by Walker. The first play of the second half was a 52-yard touchdown run by Walker that set the tone for the rest of the game.
The Trojan defense forced a fumble and two plays later Magee connected with Gregory for a 38-yard touchdown pass to give the Trojans a 26-13 lead. Moments later T.Y. Walker broke free for a 26-yard rushing touchdown to put the Trojans well ahead, and from that point on, the Trojans’ offense ran wild.
Braeden Gregory found the end zone next, adding another score in the offensive barrage. Later, Jayden Clark sealed the rout with Magee’s final touchdown, bringing the tally to 46-20.
Behind these efforts, Magee tallied 210 rushing yards on the night and continued a streak of dominant ground performances. Meanwhile, quarterback Travon Magee delivered a precision passing game, throwing for 221 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.3 percent of his attempts.
T.Y. Walker was particularly impressive, rushing for 118 yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries, marking his third consecutive game with 112 or more rushing yards.
While the offense lit up the field, the Magee defense held Franklin County at bay for much of the second half, containing their pass-oriented attack and preventing any rally. The Bulldogs were held to just one score after intermission.
The win pushes Magee’s record to 4–1 on the season. The Trojans now shift focus to district play, preparing for a showdown with Jefferson Davis County this Friday night. With a dynamic ground game and a sharp passing attack, Magee has sent a clear message to the rest of the division: they’re a force to be reckoned with this season.
