Saturday, October 25, will bring something for everyone as Magee celebrates 50 years of Crazy Day!
In fact, Magee will celebrate its 125th year, 100 years of Trojan football, and the Volunteer Fire Department turning 75 on that day.
The Magee Chamber of Commerce is announcing the day and its festivities a little early to get the word out about all the anniversaries celebrated this year.
According to Executive Director Doris Adcox, the Chamber is remembering the past and honoring the future with features like a Chicken Show led by Linda Bennett and the fan favorite, Touch a Truck. Chamber members also want input from those who attended in the early years of Crazy Day to add some of those older offerings like the chicken show.
“I remember my kids coming over and riding four wheelers on the streets during Crazy Day, different things the teenagers did during that time,” Adcox added.
The 100 Years of Trojan Football will be set up in the Magee Community House. Touch a Truck features a variety of heavy equipment vehicles including Magee VFD fire trucks; Delta Industries is providing a crane, dump and cement truck; and Southern Pine, a lineman truck. Television station WLBT Storm Tracker will make another appearance this year, along with Chief Meteorologist Dave Roberts.
Vendor sales will begin at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. Look for favorites to return. Popular local band Vintage 601 will be located in the green space between the Magee Courier office and PriorityOne Bank.
