Election results have been confirmed for the Magee Municipal Republican Primary Election. Results include absentee ballots, and a total of 440 ballots were cast out of 2,190 registered voters, resulting in a voter turnout of 20 percent.
In the race for mayor, Mark Grubbs secured the Republican nomination with 220 votes, defeating Joe Worrell, who received 183 votes. Additionally, 19 write-in votes were recorded.
The Alderman Ward 1 race saw Allyson Berch winning the seat with 110 votes, while Chris Craft received 60 votes. Frank Duane Simmons trailed with 5 votes.
For Alderman Ward 2, incumbent Lawana Thompson emerged victorious with 72 votes, surpassing Beth McCall Moore, who garnered 41 votes.
The Alderman Ward 3 seat was closely contested, with Rachel Suzie Bourn winning with 57 votes. Lane Steele followed with 47 votes, and 1 write-in vote was recorded.
Alderman-At-Large Sue Honea ran unopposed receiving 359 votes. There were 26 write-in ballots.
These results finalize the Republican primary elections for the City of Magee. Two contested races will be featured on the June 3 general election ballot. Independent candidates Jim Snider and incumbent Dale Berry will face Republican nominee Mark Grubbs for the office of Mayor.
The Alderman Ward 4 seat will be contested between Melinda Green and Julian Harper.
