The 13th annual Mendenhall in May celebration is scheduled for Saturday May 21. Mendenhall In May proves to be bigger and better each passing year.
The headliner for the event will be Doctor Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster. Dr Zarr’s group has entertained legions of party goers throughout the South for over 22 years.
From 70’s disco to 80’s glam rock, Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster is one of the most energetic, fun and professional party bands ever. With costume changes, great sound and lighting systems, and lots of audience participation, Dr Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster will make this Mendenhall in May one to remember. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. downtown.
The highly successful crawfish boil will be featured again this year, and will start at 4 p.m. There will also be a petting zoo and car show.
Other featured activities include a BBQ cook off. There will be a $100 entry fee to participate, and the winner of the competition will receive a $500 cash prize. Second and third place winners will receive $300 and $200 cash prizes. The competitors will be judged on their ability to cook St. Louis style ribs.
The Peoples Bank Run for the Money 5k is set to draw runners from far and near once again. The 5K Run/Walk will begin at 7:30 a.m.
The overall male and female winners of the run/walk will receive a cash prize of $50, and medals will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners of each age group.
The fun run winner will receive a cash prize of $50. The fun run will begin at 9 am, and the winners will be announced at noon.
There will also be arts and crafts, a Kid’s Zone, and plenty of food. Mendenhall in May has always been jam packed with vendors who sell a large variety of items.
