The Simpson County Sheriff’s Department responded to an incident at Magee Middle School at approximately 12:00p.m. Chief Deputy Greg Reynolds explained that one student had a knife in his backpack, and was horse playing with another student. The child then swung the back pack at the other student. At this point the knife punctured through the back pack injuring the other student who was subsequently taking to Magee General Hospital for treatment. The injured child received stitches and is expected to make a full recovery.
The identity of the students has been withheld due to both parties being minors. Reynolds said the Simpson School District will handle all disciplinary actions moving forward.
