In an electric Homecoming atmosphere at Trojan Stadium last Friday night, Magee High’s Trojans turned a festive evening into a rout. Behind a flawless passing performance and a punishing ground attack, they battered the visiting McLaurin Tigers 47–6, protecting home field in emphatic fashion.
From the opening kickoff, Magee struck quickly and often. Just minutes into the first quarter, quarterback Travon Magee hit Zyrenzo Hayes on a 52-yard bomb to put the Trojans on the board. Less than five minutes later, he found Braeden Gregory on a 27-yard strike to push the lead to 13–0.
Magee was not done. With under a minute left in the first, the Trojans struck again: a 32-yard touchdown to Hayes made it 20–0. And less than a minute later, on a broken-play heave, Von Magee zipped another 32-yard touchdown—this one to Rhudy Gregory—before the quarter expired. In just 12 minutes of play, the Trojans had scored four touchdowns, roaring out to a 27–0 lead.
In the second quarter, Magee continued to pour it on. An 18-yard run by Trevon McIntyre extended the lead to 34–0. Then, with 4:55 to go before halftime, Travon Magee struck again in the air, finding Hayes for a 7-yard score. Finally, with under a minute remaining before intermission, freshman Bryson Caffee punched it in from one yard out, capping a 47-0 first half.
McLaurin managed to get on the board in the fourth quarter with a touchdown of their own, but the damage was done long before.
Magee’s dominance showed in the box score. The Trojans went 11-for-11 passing, totaling 185 yards and 5 touchdowns, with zero interceptions. Travon Magee carried the load, connecting on all 9 of his throws for 175 yards and 5 TDs, and he added 32 rushing yards of his own. Freshman Caffee chipped in with 2 completions on 2 attempts for 10 yards of pass offense.
On the ground, the Trojans were equally ruthless: 225 rushing yards on 21 carries, an average of 10.7 yards per carry. McIntyre led the way with 77 yards on 6 carries (12.8 avg), while Caffee—when not throwing—rammed for 61 yards on 5 carries. Other contributors included Jayden Clark (50 yards on 5 carries) and Travon Magee himself (32 yards on 3 carries).
In the receiving game, Hayes was monstrous: 3 receptions for 91 yards and 3 scores (30.3 avg). Braeden Gregory hauled in 4 catches for 65 yards and a touchdown, and Rhudy Gregory added 2 for 19 yards and a score.
Totaling the output, Magee racked up 410 total yards (225 rush + 185 pass). On special teams, Brady Fairchild converted 5 of 7 extra point attempts.
From the first touchdown to the final whistle, the Trojans never let up, feeding off the energy of the stands. Magee improved to 6–1 on the season, It was also Magee’s seventh consecutive win over McLaurin, continuing a long tradition of dominance. The defense held McLaurin out until garbage time, the run game gouged them all night, and the passing attack was surgical.
This week, the Trojans travel to face Raleigh, a tough test looming as they seek to maintain momentum.
