It’s a wrap! Magee ended its two weeks of Bicentennial celebrations with a Street Dance Saturday, April 27.
Once again the community came out in support and enjoyed an evening of frivolity with good weather, friends, food and fun. There has been a pervasive atmosphere of joy that has overridden every event.
Bicentennial committee member Tiffany Kinslow said that the last two weeks have been awesome. “Every event, we had a large community group of all ages and every person worked really hard together. It was a great community effort amongst our group (committee). What was so great about it to me was building relationships between different generations. It’s been amazing to see our community pull together and take pride. My hope for the future is that we continue with that strong community spirit that we’ve built.”
Clara Jaynes, also a Bicentennial committee member, added, “The last two weeks have been wonderful! I wasn’t born in Simpson County but I’ve been here for 60 years so I think that qualifies me. It has brought some togetherness. There have been some things that make people think about things and how much we can appreciate what has been done already.”
The Simpson County 200th Birthday celebrations continue with events in Pinola, the first two Saturdays in May.
